Concrete Driveway Repair in Dallas-Fort Worth
One broken section shouldn't cost you a whole driveway. We replace the bad panels, fix sunken spots and the approach at the street, and seal cracks and joints so the rest lasts longer.

Driveway problems we fix without a full replacement
- A broken section:cut out at the joints and replaced, doweled into the panels next to it.
- A sunken section by the garage or street:removed, base fixed, poured back level.
- A broken approach:the part at the street replaced, usually thicker. A city permit is often needed for this part.
- Cracks:cleaned and sealed so water stops getting under the slab. Wide or shifting cracks usually mean a section needs replacing.
- Open joints:old filler removed and joints sealed with a flexible sealant.
- Trip edges at the walk or garage:the section replaced so the edge is flush.
We'll also look for the cause. A downspout dumping at the edge of the driveway or a sprinkler soaking it every morning will break the new section too, unless it's fixed.
Is repair worth it?
Repair it
- Damage is in one or two sections
- The rest is level and solid
- Cracks are narrow and not moving
- Cause is fixable, like drainage
Replace it
- Cracks across most of the driveway
- Several sections sunk or lifted
- Thin concrete or no steel
- Water flows toward the house
If replacement is the better deal, we'll say so and price both. See driveway replacement.
Section replacement, step by step
- 01
Mark the cut
We cut at existing joints where we can, so the repair looks planned instead of patched.
- 02
Saw-cut and remove
Clean cuts, old section broken out and hauled off.
- 03
Fix the base
Dig out soft clay or settled fill, add and compact base.
- 04
Dowel and pour
Steel dowels into the neighbors, rebar in the section, pour and broom finish.
- 05
Seal and cure
Joints sealed. Walk on it in a day or two, park after about a week.
Will the new section match?
Honest answer: new concrete is lighter than old concrete at first, and it won't be a perfect color match. It does get closer as it weathers. Cutting at existing joints and matching the broom finish makes a repair look intentional.
If the look matters a lot to you, replacing a full run (for example, both panels across the width of the driveway) usually looks better than a single patch in the middle.
Lifting vs. replacing a sunken section
Some companies lift sunken slabs by pumping material under them. That can work when the slab is in one piece and the soil underneath has settled but is stable. It doesn't help a slab that's cracked into pieces, and it won't fix clay that keeps moving.
We replace sections, so we're upfront that lifting isn't something we do. If your slab is a good candidate for lifting, we'll tell you.

Concrete Driveway Repair: common questions
Can you replace just one section of my driveway?
Yes. We cut at the joints, remove the bad section, fix the base, dowel into the neighboring panels and pour a new section.
Should I seal cracks in my concrete driveway?
Yes, for narrow cracks. Sealing keeps water from getting under the slab and softening the clay. Wide cracks, or cracks where one side is higher than the other, usually mean that section needs replacement.
Why did my driveway sink by the garage?
Often the fill dirt next to the foundation settled, or water from a downspout softened the soil. We fix the base under the new section and look at the water source.
Will a repaired section match the old concrete?
It won't be a perfect color match at first. It gets closer as it weathers. Cutting at existing joints and matching the finish helps it look planned.
How much does it cost to repair a concrete driveway?
It depends on the number and size of sections, base work, approach work and access. We give you a written estimate after we look at it. The estimate is free.
Do I need a permit to fix my driveway approach?
Often, yes. Many DFW cities require a permit for work in the right-of-way at the street. We check what your city requires.
