Working in Kaufman County

One of the fastest-growing counties in Texas

Kaufman County has been adding people as fast as almost anywhere in the state. Forney has gone from a small town known as the Antique Capital of Texas to a city of master-planned neighborhoods and new shopping along US-80. Crandall and the Heartland area along US-175 and FM 741 have grown just as fast. Kaufman, the county seat, still has its courthouse square, with growth all around it.

New concrete everywhere means two kinds of work: protecting new concrete before it starts failing, and fixing the older concrete in town centers and on rural properties.

Commercial

Commercial concrete in Kaufman County

New retail pads, restaurants and medical offices along US-80 in Forney, along US-175 in Crandall and Kaufman, and near I-20 in Terrell. New lots need joint sealing early, before the first summer bakes the sealant out. Older properties near the town squares need panels, curbs and sidewalks repaired.

Forney and Terrell also have large distribution and industrial buildings. Those need floor joint repair, dock aprons and truck courts kept up. We do both, and we schedule around operations.

Multifamily and HOA

HOA and apartment concrete in Kaufman County

Most new neighborhoods in Forney, Crandall and Heartland have HOAs, and many of those HOAs own sidewalks, trails, entry drives and amenity center pool decks. In a new community, the first trip hazards show up as the clay settles in the first several years. Fixing them early is cheaper and keeps residents happy.

New apartment and build-to-rent communities along US-80 and near Forney are adding a lot of sidewalk and parking. We handle trip hazards, curbs, dumpster pads and parking repairs, one area at a time.

Driveways

Driveways in Kaufman County

In the subdivisions, it's driveway extensions, side pads, patios and sections that settled over fill dirt. Most HOAs here want to approve extensions first.

On rural property around Kaufman, Kemp, Oak Ridge and the county roads in between, it's long driveways, shop slabs, barn aprons and RV pads. Where a driveway meets a county road or a state highway, a permit and sometimes a culvert may be needed. We check that before we price the job. Also serving nearby communities like Talty and Combine.

Local conditions

Kaufman County soil and drainage

Kaufman County is heavy Blackland Prairie clay. New subdivisions often have fill dirt over that clay, and fill settles. That's why sunken driveway sections show up and patios in neighborhoods that are only a few years old.

Good base work, steel, joint spacing and drainage away from the slab matter even more out here.
